Latest Amendments to the Rulebook on Food Labelling, Packaging, and Advertising.

In the “Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia” No. 21 of 6 March 2026, amendments to the Rulebook on Food Labelling, Packaging, and Advertising (Official Gazette of RS, Nos. 19/2017, 16/2018, 17/2020, 118/2020, 17/2022, 23/2022, 30/2022, 61/2024 – other rulebook, and 21/2026) were published. These amendments introduce significant novelties for food business operators, particularly regarding the labelling of product origin.

Key amendments include:

  • It is now mandatory to indicate the name and address of the milk producer or processor on the label where the entity placing the product on the market is not the producer or processor.
  • For products not originating from the Republic of Serbia, a minimum font size is prescribed for information on the country or place of origin, enhancing the readability of labels.
  • Introduction of a new “100% from SERBIA” graphic mark for products whose ingredients are entirely of domestic origin, with detailed rules regarding typography, colors, and minimum dimensions.
  • Clarification of the application of the mark to non-packaged products – the graphic mark must be visible and proportional to the displayed price.

The transitional period allows food products labelled under previous rules to remain on the market until 30 June 2026, while the new provisions apply from 1 July 2026.
