Webinar “ESG in Company Bylaws and Internal Policies: Focus on S and G”

Law office Tasić & Partners had the pleasure of co-organizing a webinar “ESG in Company Bylaws and Internal Policies: Focus on S and G”, with the Belgian-Serbian Business Association.

The session was opened by Hugo van Veghel, President of BSBA, who briefly shared insights into the Belgian approach to embedding ESG principles into long-term sustainability strategies, with special emphasis on Social and Governance aspects.

Vanja Stojanović-Cvetanovski, Managing Partner at Tasić & Partners, highlighted the practical business impact of the Social and Governance components, underscoring that these pillars are far from mere formalities. Instead, they serve as fundamental principles for fostering responsible, transparent, and sustainable corporate practices. She emphasized that ESG is no longer an abstract concept, but a crucial element of doing business in today’s world.

Nemanja Novokmet, Partner at Tasić & Partners, shared strategies for integrating Social principles into internal documents, focusing on inclusion, equality, labor rights, anti-discrimination, and the protection of vulnerable employee groups. He emphasized the need for a practical approach—internal policies should be more than just formalities. They must be actively enforced through employee engagement, targeted training, and ongoing monitoring to ensure meaningful impact.

Vanja then focused on the Governance aspects, emphasizing the importance of transparent decision-making, effective conflict-of-interest management, and clearly defined responsibilities within corporate structures. She highlighted the value of adopting key internal documents, such as the Code of Corporate Governance, the Conflict-of-Interest Policy, and governance procedures for corporate bodies, as vital tools for ensuring accountability and integrity.

The webinar concluded with the introduction of a practical ESG checklist, providing companies with a valuable tool to evaluate their existing documents, prioritize key areas, and enhance alignment with ESG principles through clear formulation, regular updates, and transparent implementation.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all participants and our partners from BSBA for their valuable contributions and active engagement.

Tasić & Partners is dedicated to supporting companies in developing ESG-compliant legal frameworks and fostering sustainable corporate practices and will continue to provide guidance and expertise in this area to help businesses navigate the evolving landscape of responsible governance.
