Inflation and Average Wages – Official Data for March and April 2025
The latest official data on Consumer Price Indices and average wages have been released:
The inflation rate in April 2025, compared to March 2025, stood at 0.3%. In comparison to December 2024, prices increased by 1.5%, while on a year-over-year basis (April 2025 vs. April 2024), prices rose by 4.0%. A decrease in prices was recorded in the categories of transport, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, recreation, and culture. Conversely, an increase was observed in the categories of food, non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, as well as in the sectors of hospitality, healthcare, and education.
The average gross salary for March 2025 amounted to RSD 148,652, while the net salary was RSD 108,013. Compared to March 2024, this represents a nominal increase of 15.0%, while the real increase, adjusted for inflation using the consumer price index, stands at 8.8%.
The median net salary, representing the value that divides the employed population into two equal groups — one earning below and one earning above the stated amount — amounted to RSD 81,793. This metric is interpreted as a reflection of the actual wage distribution in the labor market, without being influenced by outlier values that may distort the average wage level.
